Takeoff, one-third of the Migos group made up of Quavo, his uncle, and Offset, his cousin, has been reported dead. He was 28 years old. The tragic incident occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, November 1.

According to TMZ, Takeoff was fatally shot in a bowling alley in Houston after a game of dice went very awry. The multiplatinum album rapper was shot in or near his head and was declared dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the Houston Police Department claims at least two others at the scene were shot but not fatally as they are currently receiving treatment. The police had responded to calls of a shooting at 1201 San Jacinto at 2:40 am.

On getting there, they were met by a large crowd and found a man on the floor with a gunshot wound. According to HPD Lt Salazar, an investigation is ongoing and the department will withhold the identity of the deceased until his family has been notified. However, the HPD confirmed that Quavo and Takeoff were there and the dead person was in his 20s.

This incident came in the wake of the duo recently dropping a top-charting album, Only Built For Infinity Links, and just releasing the visuals to “Messy” on Monday.

Reactions To The Takeoff Death

Fans have since tweeted about their disbelief and have extended their condolences to the rapper’s loved ones. One such reaction are videos of the incident and the screenshot of texts by an individual who was supposedly at the bowling alley. They claim Takeoff was just an innocent bystander and victim of Quavo not taking well to losing money during the dice game.

British boxer, Chris Eubank Jr, took to Twitter to wish he did not have to talk about “another young black star being killed”.

Another user, @adinross, expressed his shock at the death.

Relationship expert Toni Tones said:

“Devastating news this morning. My thoughts are with Davido and Chioma, as well as Takeoff’s loved ones.”

The Migos: Quavo, Takeoff, And Offset

Before their recent schism, the trio were regular hitmakers. Takeoff joined the group in 2008 when they were still known as the Polo Club. They had middling success until they released their 2013 hit, “Versace”. In 2016, they followed this up with “Bad and Boujee”, which was a massive commercial success, peaking at number 1 in the US.

Their success came alongside multiple collaborations with many artists, including Drake (“Walk It Talk It”) and Nicki Minaj (“Motorsport”).

The trio broke off in 2022, with Offset electing to walk alone, while Quavo and Takeoff stayed together.
