Following on from her excellent Summer E.P. What’s Mine Is Yours, Genevieve Dawson has shared a new single, ‘I Want’, a brooding, melancholic song that sits somewhere in the musical spectrum between Kristin Hersh and Laura Marling (high praise indeed!).
“I Want is a song about desire,” explains Genevieve. “I wanted to linger over the sensation of wanting, and all the pleasure that can come from that.”
The track features Joe Taylor on drums and regular collaborator Callum Haynes on bass and production. Dawson’s vocals are beautifully emotive and restrained at the same time and allowed plenty of space to breathe, somehow perfectly capturing the feel of this time of year which is neither really Summer nor Autumn.
