UPDATE: Usher Doesn’t Wed During Super Bowl Halftime Show Despite Marriage License Filing

Update, Feb. 11, 9. p.m. ET: Usher‘s Super Bowl halftime show has come and gone, and he did not marry his partner, Jennifer “Jenn” Goicoechea, as some had speculated. However, it appears the couple still might be tying the knot soon, given the Las Vegas marriage license expires wafter one year. The timing of the filing and Usher’s massive Vegas weekend has many online assuming that wedding bells could be ringing in the coming days — if not hours — now that he’s done with his part in the Super Bowl festivities.

Original Story: Did Usher have a little extra something planned for his relationship at the Super Bowl. According to PEOPLE, the halftime show star obtained a marriage license with his longtime girlfriend Jennifer “Jenn” Goicoechea.

PEOPLE acquired the court records that confirmed the couple did obtain the license, with the 45-year-old Grammy winner and the music executive making it official on Thursday. No certificate has been filed yet, so it remains to be seen if there is some special goal for the halftime show.

The couple have been connected since at least 2019, later welcoming a daughter in 2020, Sovereign Bo, and then followed with a son a year later, Sire Castrello. Usher also has two sons, Usher V and Naviyd Ely, with his ex-wife, Tameka Foster.

“I have an amazing partner, a support system,” Usher gushed about his girlfriend before the Super Bowl with PEOPLE. “We have an amazing dynamic between our relationship where I’m able to be passionate still about what I do and have an incredible partner to work through some of the harder times as a young man dealing with children.”

If anything, Usher seems poised to get married again. Whether he makes the Super Bowl halftime his chapel, we’ll have to see.
