Late rap legend The Notorious B.I.G. was posthumously honored at New York City’s Hudson Yards on May 21, which would have marked his 51st birthday. The Universal Hip-Hop Museum paid tribute to Biggie with a special event titled “Sky’s the Limit: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of the Notorious B.I.G.”

The “Sky’s the Limit: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of the Notorious B.I.G.” event’s highlight was unveiling a wall featuring iconic lines from one of Biggie’s past hits. As fans and music enthusiasts gathered to commemorate this influential artist, the occasion served as a poignant reminder of Biggie’s enduring impact on the hip-hop world.

Honoring B.I.G.’s Legacy

On what would have been the Life After Death artist’s 51st birthday, the late rap icon received a special tribute at New York’s Hudson Yards. The Universal Hip-Hop Museum organized an event, “Sky’s the Limit: Celebrating the Life and Legacy of the Notorious B.I.G.,” to honor Biggie’s immense contributions to the genre. 

The highlight of the occasion was the unveiling of a commemorative wall adorned with lines from his iconic 1994 track, “Juicy,” which continues to resonate with fans worldwide.

Biggie’s Enduring Influence

Biggie’s impact on the music industry remains unparalleled, even after his untimely passing on March 9, 1997. Regarded as one of the greatest rappers of all time, Biggie’s talent and lyrical prowess captivated audiences. 

His posthumous album, Life After Death, released in 1997, achieved remarkable success, reaching 11x platinum and solidifying his status as an influential figure in hip-hop. Additionally, his music inspires and resonates with artists across generations, leading to numerous samples in songs by well-known hip-hop artists such as Diddy, Travis Scott, Drake, and Mos Def.

In a previous tribute to The Notorious B.I.G., a sculpture of the rap icon was unveiled in December 2022 in his hometown of Brooklyn, New York. The sculpture, located at the steps of the Brooklyn Bridge, is a lasting monument to Biggie’s enduring legacy, allowing fans to pay their respects and reflect on his monumental contributions to music and culture.

Another notable honor bestowed upon the late New York legend was the creation of custom-made Air Jordan shoes in his name. These limited-edition sneakers were released, with proceeds benefiting the Christopher Wallace Memorial Foundation.

The shoes quickly gained popularity among fans and were available until February 3, 2023, symbolizing the enduring impact and reverence for The Notorious B.I.G.’s legacy.

Nipsey Hussle Honored With Star On Hollywood Walk of Fame 

Another rapper who received a posthumous honor was Nipsey Hussle. On what would have been his 37th birthday, on August 15, 2022, Nipsey was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
