Stephen Curry will produce a documentary on the late Bay Area rapper Mac Dre, alongside his production company, Unanimous Media. The project aims to reveal a more positive side of Mac Dre and explore his journey from dreams of rapping to becoming a cultural icon in the Bay Area and beyond.
Curry expressed his honor in working with Mac Dre’s mother, Wanda Salvatto, to tell her son’s life story respectfully and with dignity. Salvatto shared a statement expressing the goal of the documentary, stating:
“I look forward to sharing how from Andre’s dreams of rapping emerged a blueprint that not only inspired a generation but also became a guide to conquering obstacles and fulfilling their entrepreneurial dreams.”
Who Is Mac Dre?
Mac Dre, born in Oakland, California, was tragically shot and killed in 2004 after a performance in Kansas City, Missouri.

Curry acknowledges his significance, describing the late rapper as a cultural icon who made a tremendous impact through his music and pioneering creativity. ‘Legend Of The Bay’
Despite the release date and title of the documentary not being confirmed yet, this isn’t the first documentary about Mac Dre. In 2016, a documentary titled Legend of the Bay was released on Apple, featuring Salvatto conversing with rap superstar Drake.
The documentary also included interviews with other well-known rappers such as Warren G, Wiz Khalifa, E-40, Too Short, and DJ Quik.
