The crowd at Howard University’s 2023 Springfest was in for a treat as rapper Lil Durk took the stage not only to perform but also to make a big announcement. The Chicago-based artist revealed his newly established scholarship program, the Durk Banks Endowment Fund, which will provide exceptional students from his hometown with $50,000 to attend the HBCU.
In a bold move to empower and invest in the future leaders of his hometown, Chicago, Lil Durk has announced the launch of the Durk Banks Endowment Fund. Together with Amazon Music’s Rotation and Neighborhood Heroes, the initiative aims to provide exceptional students with $50,000 scholarships to attend Howard University, a renowned Historically Black College.
In addition, the “Broadway Girls” rapper and his foundation will also donate an additional $250,000 to support students from Chicago receiving Howard’s GRACE grant, which provides funding to students enrolled at the university with the greatest financial need.
On April 17, at Howard University’s 2023 Springfest, Lil Durk will reveal the first two scholarship recipients, marking a significant investment in the education and potential of his community’s youth.

Rapper Lil Durk continues to give back to his community by investing in the education and future of Chicago’s youth. As part of his Neighborhood Heroes initiative, he surprised 20 Southside kids with tickets to a Sox suite in 2022 and now plans to take them on a black college tour program to expose them to different career opportunities at various HBCU Colleges.
Through these efforts, Lil Durk hopes to empower and inspire the next generation of leaders in his community.
