Kodak Black Shot In The Leg In Los Angeles
Kodak Black was shot while chatting it up with Gunna outside of Justin Bieber’s party in Los Angeles early Saturday. The injuries were not life-threatening and no arrests have been made according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
Kodak’s lawyer Brad Cohen took to Instagram and posted a message that included a screenshot of an article from TMZ that said the shooting took place saying the shooting happened “right in front of a slew of celebs”.
The party was located at the Nice Guy, a bar in LA. Some of the guests that made an appearance included Drake, Gunna, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tobey Maguire, Kendall Jenner and Khloe Kardashian.
Kodak appears to be doing just fine after the shooting. Although he has not commented further on the incident or his condition he recently tweeted about being at the Superbowl saying, “Drake Say Box Seats Wit ‘Em @ Da SuperBowl 🤷 I Like Da Bengals BTW”
Hip Hop had a strong presence at the Super Bowl with a total rap takeover of the Halftime show. Various parties and events occurred before and after the Superbowl and Hip Hop artists and celebrities from across the country had a heavy presence in LA throughout the days prior to the game.
Rap icon Iced T, an LA native and former gangbanger, warned ahead of time of the potential for violence surrounding the Superbowl festivities due to the heavy gang presence in LA and Hip-Hop’s gang affiliations. He took to Twitter saying, “SuperBowlWeekend: Not a Threat, just a Warning… Young Rappers coming to LA for the Super Bowl weekend. LA has over 50Thousand ACTIVE Gang Members. Make sure you play it SAFE. It’s the Wild Wild West.”
The Kodak Black shooting, though thankfully not deadly, is reminiscent of another occasion when Hip-Hop descended heavily in LA for the 1997 SoulTrain Awards when gunfire erupted outside of the and The Notorious BIG was killed. He was gunned down while leaving an after-party at the Petersen Automotive Museum – less than 2 miles from where Kodak was shot outside of The Nice Guy Bar.
Hip Hop Takes Over SuperBowl
Rap took over the Superbowl after some of the biggest names in Hip Hop were slated to perform.
Snoop Dogg was hyped to promote the Superbowl Halftime show, featuring a star-studded lineup including Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, Eminem, and Mary J. Blige. “We’re so thankful that the NFL is accepting hip-hop on stage and letting us do what we do,” Snoop said. “We’re gonna give you the greatest performance you’ve ever seen in hip-hop history.”
Drake Gives Kodak His Flowers
Kodak recently received his “flowers” from Drake on his influence in this generation. “You really all that for this generation,” Drake praised Kodak in the comments section of his Instagram account. And in a passing-the-torch moment, Drake followed with a prediction of future success for Kodak saying, “And the next [generation] if we being honest.”
