NEWS: Yard Act announce five night residency at Leeds Brudenell Social Club with comedians Nish Kumar, Lolly Adefope, Harry Hill, Rose Matafeo and secret guest

Yard Act have just announced an unprecedented five-date hometown residency at Leeds Brudenell Social Club. The smart, witty rabble rousers will be joined by a stellar line up of comedians; a special secret guest (8 May), Nish Kumar (9 May), Lolly Adefope (10 May), Harry Hill (11 May) and Rose Matafeo (12 May). Tickets will be available on Friday 10 March, with presale on Wednesday 8 March HERE

Alongside the residency, Yard Act have also announced a second night at London’s Troxy on 5 May, in addition to their sold-out show on 4 May. The band have just completed their first run of dates in Australia and New Zealand following a sold-out autumn / winter tour in the UK last year, which included London’s O2 Kentish Town Forum. This summer, Yard Act will headline Dot To Dot in Bristol & Nottingham, open the Main Stage at Reading & Leeds and make appearances at Fuji Rocks in Japan and Primavera Barcelona & Madrid amongst many other festivals.

Speaking about the announcement, frontman James Smith says: “Yard Act is all about entertainment. To be truly entertained, audiences need variety in their lives. Who needs to see more bands supporting more bands? Boring! Superstar stand ups started showing up at shows last year. We made some friends. Why not bring them all to Leeds to hang out and create a week we’ll never forget? We couldn’t believe they all said yes, but they did. Honestly!”

Edinburgh Comedy Award-winning comedian and writer Rose Matafeo said, “Emboldened by mid Glastonbury courage, I approached James in a crowd waiting to see Little Simz to tell him how much I loved Yard Act. Who knew it would pay off this hard! I’m very excited to share the stage with one of my favourite bands.” Harry Hill added: “Yard Act made me cry – but once I’d got over the fee I jumped at the chance!”

Debut album, The Overload landed in multiple Albums Of The Year lists in 2022 and The Official Charts Company confirmed Yard Act as the year’s Biggest Breakthrough Act so far, crowning The Overload as the best selling album on vinyl of Q1 2022.

Last summer, the band released a special version of euphoric album closer ‘100% Endurance’ featuring Elton John, which was crowned Jo Whiley’s Tune Of The Week on BBC Radio 2. The music video for the original version of ‘100% Endurance’ stars multi-award winning actor and fan of the band David Thewlis and represents the first time Thewlis has filmed in his hometown, Blackpool. The video was nominated for Best Alternative Video- UK and Best Performance in a Video at last year’s UK Music Video Awards.
