MerleFest, the renowned music festival presented by Window World, has just dropped the curtain on its lineup for the 36th edition, scheduled to take place from April 25 to 28, 2024, at the Wilkes Community College campus in Wilkesboro, N.C.
Headlining this year’s festivities are Grammy-winning rogue-folk ensemble Old Crow Medicine Show, marking both their 25th anniversary and nearly a quarter-century since their debut at MerleFest in 2000. Joining them in the spotlight are Red Dirt stalwarts Turnpike Troubadours, blues-rock sensation The Teskey Brothers, and the recently reunited bluegrass marvels Nickel Creek.
The lineup also includes MerleFest favorites such as Sam Bush, Jerry Douglas, The Earls of Leicester, and more. Fans can expect a diverse musical experience that pays homage to the festival’s founding legend, Doc Watson, while also showcasing emerging talents and fresh voices in the folk movement.
Last year, MerleFest celebrated its 35th year in operation and paid tribute to Doc’s 100th birthday. Drawing over 75,000 patrons to the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains each spring, MerleFest has solidified its status as a “traditional plus” experience and one of the most beloved bluegrass pilgrimages of its time.
The initial lineup reveals an exciting roster of artists, with additional acts set to be announced in the coming weeks. Some of the notable performers include Steep Canyon Rangers, Shinyribs, Peter Rowan, Scythian, Donna the Buffalo, and many more.
