Backwoods Music Festival Outlines Return: The String Cheese Incident, Big Gigantic, Lettuce and More

Backwoods Music Festival announced it will return to Mulberry Mountain in Ozark, Ark., from April 20 through 23, 2023. The festival will be headlined by Big Gigantic, Lettuce, The String Cheese Incident–who will perform two sets and The Floozies, on each of the respective nights.

2023’s gathering marks the first Backwoods Music Festival since 2021–during which The Disco Biscuits stepped in for The String Cheese Incident after cases of COVID-19 within their touring party–and will celebrate its return the electronic and jamband-heavy event will welcome Andy Frasco & The U.N., Apashe, Of The Trees, Dirt Monkey, Boogie T, the emerging artist Zingara, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, SoDown, SunSquabi, Maddy O’Neal, Polish Ambassador, The Schwag, Tisoki, Zingara Papadosio, Keller Williams, and Boogie T.rio.

“We’re proud to release this lineup that we’ve worked so hard to cultivate for the next Backwoods,” said Backwoods executive producer William Royall in a statement. “We tried to have The String Cheese Incident headline in 2021 but the pandemic prevented their attendance.”

To make up for the lack of The String Cheese Incident in 2021 this year’s gathering will also have a late-night acoustic taco party.

Over 25,000 fans are set to attend the festival over four days to enjoy over 150 artists and 80 vendors. There will of course be wellness workshops including yoga, meditation, laughter yoga, Thai yoga partner massage, and flow prop classes.
