Young Thug’s recent release, “From A Man,” showcases his unwavering commitment to his music despite his incarceration on RICO charges. This new single follows his album BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, which dropped while he was behind bars. Thugger’s resilience in the face of adversity is not an isolated case, as artists like NBA YoungBoy and Tory Lanez have also demonstrated their ability to maintain their music careers during legal challenges.
Young Thug Back With New Heat
Young Thug returns with his latest single, “From A Man,” while incarcerated on RICO charges. This new single follows his album BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, which sparked a collaborative response from fellow artist Mariah The Scientist with her release, “From A Woman.”
The Atlanta native refuses to let his prison sentence halt his creative output, as he recently released a new single titled “From A Man” on Friday, October 13, 2023. This follows his previous album release, BUSINESS IS BUSINESS, which dropped while behind bars.
The “Oh U Went” rapper’s dedication to his music even resonates with fellow artists, as singer Mariah The Scientist collaborated with him on a matching concept for her release, titled “From A Woman.”
Fans have voiced their excitement. One fan commented, “This is BRILLIANT, Makes me more of a fan of both Thug and Mariah.”
Dropping Music From Behind Bars
While Young Thug’s ability to produce music while incarcerated is commendable, he is not the only artist to demonstrate this impressive feat:
NBA YoungBoy
The Baton Rouge native released his album Sincerely Kentrell with 21 tracks while serving time in prison. NBA YoungBoy has since been released and is currently on house arrest.
Tory Lanez
Another artist who managed to maintain his music career while facing legal issues is Tory Lanez. Despite being prosecuted for the 2020 shooting incident involving rapper Megan Thee Stallion, Lanez released his upcoming deluxe album, Alone At The Prom, along with the viral single “Hurts Me,” both while in prison.
YNW Melly
Currently incarcerated and facing potential charges in a double-murder case of YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser, YNW Melly has also continued to release music during his imprisonment. He collaborated with 100K Track to provide the hook for the 2022 single “Slums” through a jail call.
Boosie
The Louisiana-based rapper, dropped his fifth album, Incarcerated while serving time in the Louisiana State Penitentiary in 2010. Featuring collaborations with artists like Webbie, Foxx, and Lil Phat, the album reached number 13 on the US Billboard 200 chart during its first week of release.
Pooh Sheisty Gives Back From Behind Bars
Aside from their musical endeavors, artists behind bars are also finding ways to give back to their communities. Rapper Pooh Shiesty, currently serving time in the United States Penitentiary in Pollock, Louisiana, recently hosted a back-to-school giveaway in collaboration with rapper K Carbon in Memphis, Tennessee.
