Diddy has again demonstrated his commitment to supporting Black businesses and educational institutions. Recently, the hip-hop mogul donated $1 million to Jackson State University and its athletic program.
Philanthropy Isn’t Dead
On August 26, Diddy donated $1 million to the historically Black college and university (HBCU) Jackson State University. The Bad Boy CEO presented the generous donation during the MEAC vs. SWAC Challenge at Georgia State University.
In an Instagram post, Diddy expressed his gratitude for HBCUs, stating:
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for HBCUs. It is my honor and my responsibility to support the HBCUs! The work they are doing is to be commended! My grandmother raised me to sow my seed in my community and that’s what I’m going to continue to do!!”
This act of philanthropy reflects Diddy’s dedication to giving back to his community and uplifting underrepresented voices.
‘Earn Your Leisure’
Diddy’s generosity didn’t stop there. In another surprising move, the rapper surprised the hosts of the popular podcast Earn Your Leisure, Rashad Bilal, and Troy Millings, with a $1 million check during his keynote at Invest Fest.
The donation was intended to kickstart the “Earn Your Leisure” Investment Fund, further supporting financial literacy and empowerment within the Black community.
‘Empower Global’
Diddy’s devotion to supporting Black entrepreneurs and fostering economic growth, is evident in the recent launch of his own e-commerce platform called Empower Global. The platform aims to provide a space for Black entrepreneurs to thrive and connect, offering a range of products and services to empower the community.
Can’t Knock The Hustle
This isn’t the first time influential figures in the entertainment industry have shown their commitment to higher education and philanthropy. Jay-Z’s Shawn Carter Foundation recently hosted a star-studded gala event, raising an impressive $20 million to support higher education.
