On September 21, Audible, the online audiobook and podcast service, announced that Will Smith will be hosting his podcast titled Class of ’88, which will delve into the origins and influence of hip-hop. The podcast will feature guests such as Queen Latifah, Chuck D, Jazzy Jeff, Darryl “DMC” McDaniels, Rakim, and Salt-N-Pepa.
Smith expressed his excitement about the project, stating:
“Hip-Hop has been a central part of my life for over four decades. I’m hyped to share my first-hand experiences and those of some of hip-hop’s greatest legends as we delve into the origins of one of the most influential genres of music in history.”
The podcast will focus on the year 1988, a pivotal year in the development of hip-hop. It marked the rise of Public Enemy, Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, as well as Smith himself as the Fresh Prince and DJ Jazzy Jeff.
