Suge Knight’s Forthcoming Biopic Series, “Welcome To Death Row” + Controversies That Could Be Addressed

Suge Knight is on the verge of having his own biopic series called Welcome To Death Row which will be based around Knight’s life. SOHH, here’s a list of events fans are curious about and dying to see portrayed in the show.

While still serving his 28-year prison sentence, Death Row’s former CEO Suge Knight is reportedly collaborating with his brother, Brian Brown on a biopic series Welcome To Death Row, expected to begin filming this summer. The forthcoming show has been in the works for years and could be similar to the BMF series executive produced by 50 Cent.

With the biopic in the works, here’s a list of rumored events and controversies that fans are dying to see unfold in the series:

The Beef With Snoop Dogg

Suge and Snoop Dogg’s beef began in the mid-1990s when Snoop left Death Row Records. Snoop was unhappy with the label’s direction mounted atop his legal issues, at the time.

After the “Gin and Juice” rapper departed from the label, tensions between him and Suge reportedly escalated. Suge accused Snoop of disloyalty and betrayal.

The beef between Snoop and Suge began in 1996 when Snoop released “Pimp Slapp’d,” which contained lyrics perceived to be directed at Suge.

In 2016, the “Drop It Like It’s Hot” artist explained in an interview with SOHH that he didn’t want to be involved with the Bad Boy and Death Row beef.

“Just to share this with you and y’all, when he was locked up, it was a pivotal moment where I wanted to go see him and I couldn’t see him because they shut the visiting down,” Snoop said.

“But I was able to get on the phone with him and I was like, ‘Cuz, why don’t you let me shake Biggie and Puffy’s hand on the TV and end this so we can figure out a way to move forward.’”

The Ejecting Eazy-E With AIDS Rumor

There has been a long-standing rumor that Suge Knight was involved in the death of 90s rapper Eazy-E, who passed away in 1995 after being diagnosed with AIDS. The rumor suggested that Suge Knight had Eazy-E injected with AIDS, causing his death.

In 2003, Knight made the theory even bigger when he appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Rumors Of Leading Tupac To His Death

One theory is that Suge Knight may have had a financial motive to have Tupac killed. Some have speculated that Tupac was planning to leave Death Row Records, which would have been a significant financial blow to the label.

By having Tupac killed, Suge may have been able to prevent this from happening and maintain control over the rapper’s music and image.

Another theory is that Suge Knight may have been involved in a feud with another party that led to Tupac’s shooting. Some have suggested that the shooting was retaliation for an altercation that occurred earlier that evening between members of Death Row Records and a rival gang.

There have also been rumors that the shooting was orchestrated by law enforcement or other powerful interests who wanted to silence Tupac’s activism and influence.

Knight addressed the rumor in 1996 while doing an interview with MTV News.

Starting Beef Between Biggie & Tupac

The exact reasons for the beef between Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G. are complex and multifaceted, and there is no definitive answer to this question. However, it is widely believed that Suge and his label played a significant role in escalating the tensions between the two rappers.

Tupac and Biggie were initially friends, and Tupac even mentored Biggie early in his career. However, their relationship became strained in the mid-1990s.

Both rappers began taking shots at each other in lyrics after Tupac was shot at Quad Studios in New York. Many believe Suge played a role in fueling the animosity as a way to generate publicity and sell records.

Taking Vanilla Ice’s Royalties And Dangling Him Over A Balcony

There is a widely circulated rumor that Suge Knight, as part of his business dealings with Vanilla Ice, took royalties owed to the rapper and threatened him by dangling him over a balcony. While there is some truth to this story, the details have been exaggerated and distorted over time.

In the early 1990s, Vanilla Ice was one of the most popular rappers in the world, with his hit song “Ice Ice Baby.” However, he was also known for embellishing his backstory and exaggerating his street credibility. When Vanilla Ice signed with Suge Knight’s label, Death Row Records, in 1996, he found himself in a difficult situation.

Knight allegedly strong-armed Vanilla Ice into signing over the rights to “Ice Ice Baby” and threatened him to secure the deal.

Running Over Two Men With His Truck

In 2018, the former Death Row Records CEO was sentenced to 28 years in prison for running over two men with his truck, killing one and injuring the other. The incident occurred in 2015 during a confrontation on the set of the movie Straight Outta Compton.

Knight pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter and agreed to a plea deal that included a 28-year sentence. As part of the agreement, he also admitted to using a “deadly and dangerous weapon,” his truck, during the incident.

Suge Knight & Dr. Dre Both Have Kids With Michel’le

Michel’le did address having children by Suge Knight and Dr. Dre in a past Unsung interview. She revealed that she had a son with Dr. Dre and a daughter with Suge Knight, both of whom she loves and cares for deeply.

Michel’le’s disclosure of her relationships and children with both men has been a subject of interest and controversy in the media.

In the same interview, Michel’le also revealed that Dr. Dre physically abused her on multiple occasions during their relationship, including incidents where he punched her in the face and broke her nose. The singer also addressed both in her own biopic Surviving Compton.

In related news, Snoop Dogg recently brought the Death Row catalog back to streaming platforms which included albums from himself, Tupac, Dr. Dre, and many more.

Tupac’s “Dear Mama” Docuseries With His Mother Afeni Shakur

Suge won’t be the only one from Death Row doing a biopic. FX recently revealed the full-length trailer for Dear Mama. The docuseries Dear Mama: The Saga of Afeni & Tupac Shakur stars the late Tupac and his late mother, Afeni Shakur.

The new series will shed insight into Tupac’s relationship with his activist mother.
