Malia Obama Set To Make Her Directorial Debut With Help From Donald Glover

Malia Obama will make her debut as a director for a short film in the future, and it will be produced by Donald Glover’s production company, Gilga. Obama has also written for Glover’s show,  Atlanta.

Malia Obama, the oldest daughter of former President Barack Obama, will make her directorial debut for a short film by Donald Glover’s production company, Gilga.

In an interview with GQ, Glover shared that he also warned Malia about making films as a child of a former president.

“The first thing we did was talk about the fact that she will only get to do this once, “ Glover said. “You’re Obama’s daughter. So if you make a bad film, it will follow you around. “

Malia studied Visual and Environmental Studies at Harvard University, which led to her interest in television and film-making.

If she were to do so, Malia could also make history of her own by becoming the first child of a former president to direct a major film

Malia and Glover have worked together before. She wrote for  Glover’s former hit show Atlanta and was also a writer for the episode of “Girl, Bye” from Glover’s new Amazon series Swarm, where Glover also previewed new music

At the time of press,  the name of the film or a release date had not been confirmed.
