The two shared an emotional hug and took pictures together, savoring the joy of finally connecting in person.

According to sources close to Lil Wayne, the encounter began a musical collaboration. The wheels are now in motion for a new song featuring both artists, and they are eager to dive into the creative process. 

In April 2023, the legendary rapper expressed his desire to work with Flau’jae during the women’s NCAA Tournament, where he mentioned her as an aspiring rapper signed to Roc Nation. The LSU basketball player/emerging rapper, thrilled by Lil Wayne’s shoutout, expressed her excitement on social media, envisioning the incredible journey ahead.

Flau’jae Johnson is a member of the LSU women’s basketball team and is also an aspiring rapper. Johnson has gone viral for her basketball play and her rap skills since she was in high school.

Meet Flau’jae

The Savannah, Ga. native is a 19-year-old basketball player for Louisiana State University (LSU) in Baton Rouge, La. During the 2022-2023  season, Johnson won SEC Freshman of the Year, and LSU won the national championship on April 2, where she scored 10 points in LSU’s victory over Iowa. 

Flau’jae Got Bars Too?

Johnson is an aspiring rapper and her stage name is simply her first name, Flau’jae. Rap runs deep for Johnson as she is the daughter of the late rapper, Camoflauge who was murdered in May 2003, before Johnson was born. Camoflauge’s murder remains unsolved. In a 2018 documentary, Camoflauge delved into the late rapper’s mysterious murder. 

Johnson was also featured on the third season of the rap competition show, The Rap Game. Atlanta rap star Latto also made an appearance in its first season.

In addition, the 19-year-old rising star has also gone viral with her song “Big 4′,’ which grew in popularity since LSU went on their championship run throughout March.

A Star In The Making?

Johnson has made her presence felt as a rapper as well as a basketball player. She performed one of her songs, “Ready Or Not” on America’s Got Talent on Feb. 6 and received a standing ovation.

Johnson’s song “Big 4” also played over the speakers at Dallas’ American Airlines Center after LSU won the national championship, where she also performed the song in front of fans after the game. In fact, Flau’jae may be getting an off-court assist from rapper Lil Wayne. According to sources, the Grammy-winning artist has offered to help Johnson with her music career, and the two have reportedly been in communication.

J. Cole Set To Play In Canadian Elite Basketball League

Rap superstar J. Cole is another rapper who enjoys hooping.

Recently, he signed a deal for the Canadian Elite Basketball League in May of 2022. Cole played for the Scarborough Shooting Stars and played as a guard.
