Gucci Mane Looks To Expand His Horizons

On August 16, Gucci Mane took to his Instagram account, posted a screenshot of Oliver Anthony, and stated:

“Aye fam I need y’all help on this one. I’m trying to sign these guys as my first country artists to 1017!!! I need the info asap.”

Oliver Anthony, a country artist from Farmville, Virginia, caught the 1017 label owner’s attention with his latest single, “Rich Men North of Virginia,” which garnered a significant increase in popularity.

Users on Instagram expressed their support for the potential collaboration, with one user stating, “Signing with @laflare1017 as a country artist would be cool as hell.” Another user mentioned, “Bruh I live in Richmond and this man is becoming a legend here. You better get him quick cause yesterday’s price is not today’s price.”

Hip-Hop Meets Country

This fusion of country and hip-hop is familiar, as notable artists like Nelly and K. Michelle have successfully integrated these two genres. Nelly’s collaboration with Florida Georgia Line on “Lil Bit” reached No. 3 on the Hot Country Songs chart.

K. Michelle also transitioned from R&B to country music in 2023 with her song “Country Love Song” featuring Justin Champagne

Moreover, several artists have explored the fusion of country and hip-hop music, including Seckond Chaynce, Blanco Brown, Colt Ford, C’ing Jerome, RVSHVD, BigXThaPlug, ThatMexicanOT, Shaboozey, and King George, among others.

Legendz Of The Streetz Tour

In related news, Gucci Mane recently joined fellow rap icons T.I., Jeezy, and Rick Ross on stage for the Legendz Of The Streetz Tour in February 2023. The tour was a monumental night for the heart of trap music.

Gospel Meets Hip-Hop

On a broader scale, the fusion of hip-hop with other genres has been well-received by fans. In April 2023, SOHH compiled a list of Christian rappers who incorporate hip-hop vibes into their music, much like popular artists such as Future, Play Boi Carti, City Girls, Drake, and Lil Durk.
