NEWS: LOBSTERBOMB share new single, ‘Dragonfly ‘and announce debut album

Berlin-based rockers LOBSTERBOMB have just released their fifth single, ‘Dragonfly,’ via Duchess Box Records and announced the release of their debut album Look Out, due on 21st July 2023.

Formed in in 2020, LOBSTERBOMB emerged from lockdown with a string of energetic, raw and danceable singles. The band approaches themes of personal introspection, desire for systemic change and individual growth through a lens of frenetic, loud and catchy indie-garage rock.  Simon Le Bon of Duran Duran said “I have a bit of an obsession with a band from Germany called LOBSTERBOMB, I think they are magnificent” Watch their latest single, Dragonfly here:

They met via an Instagram notice board called ‘We Formed A Band” set up by the band Gurr. The trio consist of Nico Rosch, Vik Chi and Crayon Jones, who all immigrated to Berlin looking for the same escape. After connecting during the pandemic, they started writing songs drawing on their environment, fears and frustrations of the time. Crayon Jones said,

“There is a fight between the post-punky coldness of the music and the emotion in Nico’s voice which helps to reflect the lyrics. There isn’t really a resolution, neither side wins and the happy-ever-after never arrives.”

Described as “a beautifully rough rollercoaster ride through our subconscious minds” by band member Nico, their upcoming album,  ‘Look Out’ will be released on limited edition red vinyl on 21st July. “With so much effort and emotion going into this album, it feels like giving birth to a big square baby.”
