Alex Lahey has announced her new album, and debut for Liberation, The Answer is Always Yes. It is set for release on 19 May. In addition, Lahey has shared the new album’s lead single ‘Good Time’, co-written & produced by Jacknife Lee (U2, Taylor Swift).
Lahey expands on the inspiration behind the new album:
“Living in a world that wasn’t made for you makes you pretty strong and adaptive, and you find the fun in it. It also makes you realise how absurd everything is. With this record, I wanted to get weird because the world is weird, and it’s even weirder when you realise you don’t fit into it all the time.”
The new track ‘Good Time‘ is informed by the lifting of restrictions after lockdown, and how it impacted on behaviour. Lahey continues:
“This song was inspired by a night out I had at the pub with my friend soon after Melbourne came out of lengthy lockdowns. We were watching all these strangers around us have this ‘whatever it takes’ attitude towards making the most of the night (aka getting lit). It was a bit of a shock after being cooped up for so long, but also kind of invigorating.”
