Today, singer-songwriter, musician and producer Ben Harper has shared his new music video “Yard Sale (Live From The Kitchen).” The visual companion piece finds the new song, which was shared in early April, stripped down to an acoustic format and delivered with assistance from Harper’s frequent collaborator, Jack Johnson.
“Yard Sale,” was tracked for Harper’s impending studio release, Wide Open Light, due this Friday, June 2. In the adjoining video, which dropped on YouTube before the start of the holiday weekend, the pair of musicians are seen seated in Harper’s kitchen, gently strumming acoustic guitars and harmonizing the lyrics from the album’s initial single.
In a press release shared alongside the album announcement and delivery of “Yard Sale,” Harper commented: “[It] follows a man through the final blurred stages of a breakup. With each passing verse, the couple grows further beyond reach or repair. By the song’s end, he’s more confused than when the song began.”
After dropping the new LP in early June, Harper will set out on tour, with select dates in the company of The Chicks, before heading out on his own extensive U.S. tour this fall. Harper’s forthcoming run will begin in Richmond, Va., on September 29, featuring shows in Portland, Maine, Buffalo, N.Y., Cincinnati, Milwaukee, Wis., and more.
