The Sun City Girls’ evil flowers bloom darkly on Live From the Sky Church (Twenty One Eighty Two), a 2004 show capturing the mostly improvisational trio at its apocalypse-tempting peak. Alan Bishop spews surly invective with dissolute glee over deformed Southeast Asian radio transmissions, brother Richard Bishop’s psycho guitar and the late Charles Gocher’s drums. They riff nihilistically over Roberta Flack’s “Killing Me Softly With His Song” and “The House of the Rising Sun,” and insult their Bumbershoot audience incessantly (“Are you mediocrities who invented the color beige?”) during “With Pleasure, Master!” It could be just the disgust you need.
