My eyes figuratively popped out of my head the first time I heard NBA Youngboy on “masked up,” a highlight from Nettspend’s recently released early life crisis. Now Nett’s dropped a simple but effective video, wherein the child star and former child star mean mug while cars do donuts in the background. Check it out above.
Nettspend is a true enfant terrible who hates ceding the spotlight as much as algebra homework and early bedtimes, so it’s a real sign of respect that “masked up” is a showcase for NBA Youngboy above all else. Clearly supercharged by the collaboration, Nettspend turns in one of the album’s better performances; his avian cries tear through the punishing CXO beat.
Ending nearly as quickly as it began, YB’s hammering verse is supported by a herd of noxious 808s that stampede in like wild horses. It’s not quite a torch-passing moment, but for Nettspend, it must feel pretty damn close.
