Busta Rhymes Honored
On September 25, Busta Rhymes was recognized and celebrated by the New York State Assembly during a ceremony.
The New York rap legend’s achievements include a rap career spanning over three decades, his first appearance on the cover of EBONY Magazine, and the upcoming release of his eleventh studio album. Although the album has yet to receive an official title or release date, it boasts production from artists such as Swizz Beatz, Pharell Williams, and Timbaland.
EBONY also paid tribute to Busta Rhymes by featuring him on the cover and publishing an article titled “Busta Rhymes: Flowers For The Fearless,” which further highlighted the significance of the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The issue was released on September 19, 2023.
The recognition from the New York State Assembly also acknowledges Busta Rhymes’ monumental impact on the music industry and his role in the rise of hip-hop during the early 1990s. The “What’s It Gonna Be” rapper initially rose to fame as a New York rap group Leaders of The New School member before venturing into a successful solo career when the group disbanded in 1994.
Busta Continues To Make An Impact
In addition to this recent honor, Busta Rhymes joined forces with fellow rappers Fat Joe, Method Man, Rick Ross, Chuck D, and French Montana to produce a Public Service Announcement (PSA) advocating for healthcare transparency. The PSA, in partnership with non-profit organization Power to the Patients, addresses healthcare prices and challenges hospitals and insurance companies.
Moreover, in June 2023, the Genesis artist was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the BET Awards. Swizz Beatz and Marlon Wayans bestowed this prestigious accolade upon him, acknowledging his impact on hip-hop and his impressive rap career spanning over three decades.
