Superstar Rihanna is set to take on the iconic role of Smurfette in the upcoming animated film, The Smurfs Movie. The film is scheduled to hit theaters in 2025 and will be released by Paramount Pictures.
Rihanna has been cast as Smurfette in the upcoming live-action hybrid feature from Paramount Animation, The Smurfs Movie. The Fenty mogul made the announcement herself at CinemaCon, Las Vegas’ annual convention of movie theater owners, on Thursday, April 27, 2023.
In addition to voicing the lead role, Rihanna will star, write and record original songs and produce the upcoming project. The film is set to hit theaters on February 14, 2025, and will be released by Paramount Pictures.
This marks Rihanna’s eighth acting role, as she previously voiced for DreamWorks’ animated feature Home, which grossed over $380 million at the worldwide box office. Her live-action screen credits include Battleship, This Is the End, Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets, Ocean’s 8, and Guava Island.
Rihanna also confirmed that she is in her third trimester of pregnancy with her second child. She originally revealed her second pregnancy during her Super Bowl halftime performance.
Additionally, the Bajan songstress’s latest business moves include her return to Puma, as the company announced the return of Fenty x Puma with Rihanna. She also recently graced the cover of British Vogue with her first-born child in a shoot that allowed her to shine as a mother.
