Flavor Flav was recently a guest lecturer at Harvard University. During his guest tenure at the Ivy League, Flav lectured on hip-hop culture and history. Before stepping off campus, he donated one of his famous clocks to the university.
Flavor Flav was a guest lecturer at Harvard University on April 4. He also visited the school on April 5, completing a two-day visit and lectures on hip-hop.
“How many of y’all had Flavor Flav going to HARVARD on ya bingo cards,” he shared in a Twitter post. “YEAH BOOYYYEEEE”
During his visit to the Ivy League in Cambridge, Mass., he taught students a course on hip-hop history and culture amid the genre’s ongoing 50th-anniversary celebration.
The rapper even led a table read on Emily Dickinson and connected it back to his lyrics to “A Clock Stopped.”
During Flav’s lecture, celebrity guests were also spotted in the audience and turned out to be Flav’s friends — including Lupe Fiasco, who also previously taught at Harvard and is presently a visiting professor as part of the M.L.K. Visiting Professor Program at Massachusetts Institute Of Technology, M.I.T.
Other Flav’s friends who showed up to support included Dee-1, DJ Stretch Armstrong, and Khaliah Ali who is the daughter of the late boxing legend Muhammad Ali.
Flav also volunteered at Harvard Square Homeless Shelter during his visit and donated one of his clocks to the Archive Research Institute. The Harvard lecture for the Public Enemy group member comes after Flav celebrated two years of sobriety in 2022.
