The term “catfish” is defined as a means to lure someone into a relationship using a fictional online persona.

A young woman by the name of Simone was brought on Dr. Phil after her cousin Rachel was concerned that she was being “catfished.” Simone believed that she was engaged to Omarion, despite never meeting him.

Simone also said his manager was requesting $3,000 to meet the R&B singer. She also claimed Omarion reached out to her through his fan page.

The online relationship lasted three years.
