The sequel to the 2007 film I Am Legend is back in the works, this time, with Will Smith and Michael B. Jordan. Filmmaker Akiva Goldman recently revealed the news in a recent interview with Deadline.
With I Am Legend 2 officially in the works, viewers are wondering if the film with Will Smith alongside Michael B. Jordan can redeem the I Robot movie actor after slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars in 2022.
Smith has since apologized for the behavior, but it didn’t stop fellow actor Eddie Murphy from making jokes about the incident at the Golden Globes.
Filmmaker Akiva Goldsman interviewed with Deadline and confirmed the film is still in the works.
“We’re starting with two projects that are fun and very much Warners; the sequel to I Am Legend with Will and Michael B. Jordan and the sequel to Constantine with Keanu Reeves with Francis Lawerence directing,” Goldsman said. “So I’m coming out of the gate fast. We’re doing it with JJ Abrams, and Francis and Keanu and I have been pretty deep in the breaking stage.”
The first movie, I Am Legend, dropped in 2007 and successfully did well financially, grossing over half $1B. Jordan also has films coming up, including Creed III where he will also serve as a director. The release date is set for March 3.
Bad Boys 4 Coming
I Am Legend 2 is not the only sequel Smith has in the works.
Will Smith and Martin Lawrence recently announced the making of Bad Boys 4 is in the works. In a video, Smith is seen with a gimbal heading to Lawrence’s house to confirm the news officially.
