In 2014, she released her debut EP Welcome to The Winter and inked her first recording contract at 17 with Polydor Records, a label associated with Interscope and Universal Music Group.

RAYE’s Collabs & Creative Works
In an interview with the Lowkey Deep Podcast, she talks about how she helped co-write “Bigger,” the first song on the album The Gift by Grammy Award-winning singer Beyoncé.
She also wrote “A Good Night” sung by John Legend, and “Don’t Think About It” by Justine Skye.
The “Hard Out Here” singer signed a four-album deal with Polydor Records. However, the label refused to let her release her debut album, according to News.Sky.com.
After seven years, the now 28-year-old songstress decided to leave her label and become fully independent.
She announced on Twitter, saying, “I’m sick of being slept on.” and “This is not business to me, this is personal.”
As her journey to become an independent artist began, she began working on releasing her music with no restrictions. Her hit single “Escapism” reached No. 1 on the UK Hot 100 charts and secured the spot for two weeks. Making this her first Billboard entry as an artist and her first No. 1.
The My 21st Century Blues artist is breaking the rules and paving her lane regarding the music she wants to create and the stories she wants to tell.
