T.I. Disapproves of Comparisons Between His Film “Da Partments” & Ice Cube’s “Friday”

T.I. has disapproved of comparisons between his upcoming film Da Partments and the iconic 1995 comedy film Friday starring Ice Cube. The Atlanta rapper and trap music pioneer took to social media to announce his film and responded to a fan’s post drawing a parallel between the two movies. T.I. emphasized that his film stands on its own and encouraged viewers to watch, laugh, and enjoy the unique humor it offers.

On June 20, T.I. took to Instagram to announce his upcoming film Da Partments. The rapper described it as “uncensored, unhinged, and unapologetic hood humor at its finest.” He expressed pride in the film being created by individuals who made it out of challenging circumstances and found success. 

After the announcement, an Instagram user posted a photo comparing the film covers of Friday and Da Partments and asked if T.I.’s movie would have the same impact as the classic comedy. T.I. responded to the post, stating that “comparison steals joy,” emphasizing that Da Partments is a unique project. He encouraged viewers to watch, laugh, and enjoy the film on its own merits.

Mixed Reactions From Fans

While some users expressed skepticism about Da Partments and questioned the acting skills showcased in the trailer, others showed anticipation and support for the film. The number of likes on the post indicated significant anticipation for the movie.

Comedian and rapper DC Young Fly, along with comedian Lil’ Duval, helped produce the film, while comedian Karlous Miller served as executive producer.

Release Details & Film Debut

T.I. has not yet revealed the exact release date for Da Partments, but has announced that the film would be available on the Tubi streaming platform shortly. This marks T.I.’s continued foray into the film industry following his debut in the 2006 comedy ATL.

In other news, T.I. and DaBaby were featured on the Fear film soundtrack, adding to T.I.’s recent ventures beyond music and into the film world.
