For the first time in seven years, fans will get to see Fenty mogul Rihanna hit the stage and perform during halftime at Super Bowl LVII. SOHH, here’s a fan wishlist of moments they would like to see.
On Sunday, Feb 12, millions of people will be watching the Philadelphia Eagles take on the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LVII. Some viewers will also be lounging in their Fenty game wear as they gear up to watch Bad gal Riri take the stage for the first time in seven years, which is the most anticipated part of the night.
Babyface and Sheryl Lee Ralph have already announced their performances to kick off the show, but the setlist for Rihanna remains a mystery. The new mom hasn’t released any new music since 2016, but in a recent interview with Apple Music, she confessed to changing the entire show 39 times.
Here’s SOHH’s top few performances and special guests fans hope to see during game night.
“Work” feat Drake
Rihanna has put in a lot of “Work” ahead of game day, and that’s just the song fans want to hear. The performance featuring Drake would call for him to make a special guest appearance alongside the Bajan songstress, which would be a first for the Toronto native.
“Run This Town” feat Jay-Z & Ye
“Run This Town” was released on Jay-Z’s The Blue Print 3 album in 2009, featuring Kanye and Riri. The trio hasn’t seen the stage together since its release. But Ye’s recent anti-semitism comments may delay that from changing.
Potential Special Guest For Riri’s Performance
A$AP Rocky
The performance wouldn’t be complete without Rihanna’s boo A$AP Rocky sharing the stage with the Anti artist. The new parents have been together for some time and never released any music. However, after a two-year hiatus, ASAP did release a new song and video in 2022 featuring the couple seemingly at the altar.
Nicki Minaj
Rumors on social media have led fans to believe Nicki Minaj will perform alongside Riri during the halftime show.
“Yeah Rihanna bringing out Nicki. They are performing,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
The two are Caribbean and share the song “Fly” released on Nicki’s 2010 Pink Friday album.
J. Cole
Most of Rihanna’s performance will most likely be songs spanning from her entire career, but it would also be the perfect time to share some new music. J. Cole previously hinted at collaborating with Rihanna in a song featuring rapper and singer Smino. If J. Cole takes the stage it will also be a first for the North Carolina native.
Rihanna Expected To Announce Tour After Her Super Bowl LVII Performance
After Rihanna performs at the Super Bowl LVII on Feb. 12, the “Umbrella” artist is expected to announce her tour officially. This will mark her first tour since 2016 after the release of the Bajan artist’s eighth album Anti.
