Rihanna was recently gifted a faux fur coat by PETA in exchange for the donation of her real fur coats. The organization penned a letter to the superstar, asking her to permanently switch to faux fur.
PETA Pens A Letter To Rihanna
After she was spotted heading to dinner with bae A$AP Rocky in Italy, Rihanna was photographed in a full-length real fur coat. PETA’s senior vice president Lisa Lange penned a letter to the pregnant star, urging her to rethink her fashion choice.
“As a mother, you know what it’s like to feel protective and to want to make sure no harm comes to your family. Please understand that this desire — this instinct even — is shared by the minks, foxes, and rabbits who are torn away from their families and killed for their fur.”
In addition, the organization offered to send her a faux fur coat from Unreal Fur, which they claim will help the “Lift Me Up” singer “stay warm and fashionable while making the cruelty-free switch.” They also offered to take her real fur coats off her hands to donate to others who have an excuse to wear them.
Rihanna has not publicly responded. However, Riri is set to perform at the 2023 Oscars on Sunday, March 12 at 8 pm.
Rihanna Receives PETA’s Compassion In Fashion Award For FENTY Clothing Line
Rihanna Navy fans may find the recent PETA news ironic since the bad gal has previously received a Compassion in Fashion Award from the organization. In 2020, the non-profit organization credited Riri’s FENTY line for going with faux-leather items including skirts and shirts as a big contributing factor to the award.
