Nicki Minaj & Kenneth Petty Harassment Lawsuit Stalemate Heads to Courts

The harassment lawsuit against Nicki Minaj’s husband, Kenneth Petty, is going back to the court for scheduling as efforts to reach a settlement with sexual assault victim Jennifer Hough have been unsuccessful. Hough’s attorney informed the judge in a letter that the parties were unable to come to an agreement on restitution, prompting Hough to seek legal intervention from the court.

In a letter dated May 23, attorney Tyrone Blackburn, representing Jennifer Hough, addressed Judge James Cho and expressed the parties’ inability to reach a settlement during private mediation. Blackburn requested a scheduling conference with the court to establish a scheduling order, indicating the need for the case to proceed to trial.

A letter from Hough’s attorney, Tyrone Blackburn, dated May 23 to Judge James Cho, stated:

“We are counsel to Plaintiff Jennifer Hough in the above-referenced matter. I write jointly with counsel for Defendant Kenneth Petty,” Mr. Blackburn wrote in his letter to Judge Cho. “As you know, the Court provided the parties with an opportunity to engage in private mediation. The parties participated in private mediation, but unfortunately, we were unable to reach a settlement. We would like to have a scheduling conference with the court to set a scheduling order.”

Harassment Case and Ongoing Legal Battle

The current lawsuit filed by Jennifer Hough in 2021 alleges that Nicki Minaj and Kenneth Petty have engaged in harassment and intimidation tactics in an attempt to coerce her into recanting her story of being raped by Petty. Hough accuses Minaj of contacting her family and spreading falsehoods to her social media followers about the incident. The case has now reached a point where a settlement could not be reached, necessitating the next step in the legal process.

Petty was convicted of sexual assault against Hough when she was 16 and served 5 years in jail.  Kenneth Petty remains on the sex offender list in both California and New York.
