A fan-favorite Netflix series has been renewed.
Deadline reports that Mike Schur’s comedy A Man on the Inside will be coming back for Season 3.

News of the renewal comes over two months after Season 2 dropped on Nov. 20. The streamer doesn’t always strictly look at viewership when weighing renewals, especially for comedies, since they aren’t usually as pricey as dramas. In A Man on the Inside’s case, Netflix seems to be relying on the creative direction by Schur and lead Ted Danson, as well as the critical acclaim. The show currently has a 92% on Rotten Tomatoes for Season 2, which didn’t even crack the weekly Top 10 for English series.
Additionally, viewership for Season 2 dipped from Season 1, bringing in only 9.8 million viewers following its premiere. That being said, ratings seem to be staying pretty steady, and with someone like Mike Schur at the helm, it’s bound to be a success. It is, regardless of the viewership, and Netflix seems pretty confident.
“We are absolutely thrilled to partner with Netflix on another season of A Man on the Inside,” Schur said in a statement. “It’s a true joy to work with this entire team, most especially the handsome, erudite, and monstrously talented Ted Danson, a true American treasure whose contract stipulates exactly what adjectives I am allowed to use while describing him in press releases.”
Based on the 2020 documentary The Mole Agent by Maite Alberdi, A Man on the Inside premiered in November 2024. Also starring Mary Elizabeth Ellis, Lilah Richcreek Estrada, Stephanie Beatriz, and Mary Steenburgen, the series follows Danson’s Charles Nieuwendyk, a retiree-turned-amateur private investigator.
In Season 2, Charles is eager to take on another big undercover case, and he gets his chance when a mysterious blackmailer targets Wheeler College president Jack Berenger, who enlists Charles to go undercover as a professor. The cast for the second season also includes Max Greenfield, Gary Cole, Michaela Conlin, Lisa Gilroy, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Madison Hu, Sam Huntington, Jason Mantzoukas, Constance Marie, Linda Park, David Strathairn, and Jill Talley.
