Juvenile Honored For Contributions In Hip-Hop By Louisiana Representative Troy Carter

Juvenile received special recognition for his significant contributions to hip-hop during the 2023 Legislative Session in Washington D.C. This recognition comes as a testament to Juvenile’s enduring career, spanning over two decades, and his influence on the rap scene with iconic hits such as “Back That Azz Up.”

On June 14, Louisiana Representative Troy Carter presented Juvenile with a Congressional Record, highlighting his impact on the genre. Rep. Carter praised the Louisiana rapper’s accomplishments in hip-hop during the legislative session, playfully referencing the artist’s famous lyrics by stating:

“May you always encourage [everyone] to Back That Azz Up.”

Juvenile’s musical journey began with his debut album Being Myself in 1995, which included the chart-topping track “If You’re a Player.” He has received several accolades throughout his career, including a Billboard Music Award for “Top R&B Album” in 1999 and a Soul Train Award for “Best New Artist” in 2000.

In addition to his recognition by Representative Carter, Juvenile has another exciting project in the works. He recently recorded a Tiny Desk concert with NPR, alongside renowned songwriter Jon Batiste, producer Troy “Trombone Shorty,” and Cash Money producer Mannie Fresh

The concert is eagerly anticipated by fans, who initially introduced the idea to the rapper. After they explained what a Tiny Desk concert entails, Juvenile took to Twitter and playfully responded, “Ok ok All Things Considered, 10k retweets and I will RECONSIDER doing @NPR Tiny Desk while drinking an ice cold #JuvieJuice from @UrbanSouthBeer!!!”

Juvenile’s inclusion in the ESSENCE Festival lineup generated public attention after the rapper expressed disappointment initially.
