On Jan. 1, the rap community was saddened by the death of Three 6 Mafia rapper Gangsta Boo who died at the age of 43 in her hometown, Memphis, Tenn. According to TMZ, a posthumous album is in the works to honor the late rapper.
Artists such as Latto, Skepta, La Chat, and fellow Three 6 Mafia member Crunchy Black are all set to be featured artists. Production for the album will include contributions from Drumma Boy, Nick Hook, and Run The Jewels member El-P.
Three 6 Mafia members, DJ Paul and Juicy J are in talks for production with BeatKing and Metro Boomin.
Gangsta Boo’s estate plans for the album’s release date to be Aug.7, which would have been her 44th birthday.
Prior to her death, Gangsta Boo was touring with Atlanta artist Scotty ATL and Drumma Boy in Los Angeles and Memphis.

Scotty ATL + Drumma Boy Opens Up To SOHH
“We were on tour together,” Atlanta rapper Scotty ATL told SOHH. “We were having talks about another tour and working on a song together. I’m hurt, it’s sad to see,” Scotty added. “I’m still dealing with the pain of losing her.”
Scotty ATL’s tour manager, Erricka Mystorie, told SOHH she was spending a hefty amount of hours in the studio with Grammy Award-winning producer, Drumma Boy. Additionally, Drumma told SOHH he recently wrapped the “Imma Mack” video from “Welcome to My City” with Gangsta Boo, La Chat, and Crunchy Black, which is expected to release soon.
“As dark as the world gets, she was our sunshine,” Drumma Boy said. “Lola gave us hope and let it know it was possible.”
The Grammy award-winning producer referred to Gangsta Boo as a sister and friend and the one who bragged on her loved ones.
“She was the one to brag about you if she loved you,” Drumma Boy shared. “And the one to cut you with her tongue if she didn’t like you. But the minute she cracks a joke or shows that smile everything is all good.”
Long Live The Queen
Gangsta Boo was a member of the Grammy Award-winning group Three 6 Mafia. Her cause of death hasn’t been revealed and according to Memphis police, there is no suspicion of foul play. On Jan. 1, Memphis police responded to a “person-down” call at around 2:20 p.m. on Raines Road in the Whitehaven neighborhood where Gangsta Boo was found dead, according to police.
She was a pioneer of female rap collaborating with artists such as Eminem, E-40, OutKast, Lil Jon, Krayzie Bone, Gucci Mane, Run the Jewels, GloRilla, Latto, and many other huge names in hip hop and R&B.

Mitchell began rapping at 14 years old and often participated in her school’s talent show. She was soon discovered by the hip-hop collective Three 6 Mafia at one of the shows and became a prominent figure in the Southern hip-hop scene.
Her solo work, including the albums Inquiring Minds and Both Worlds *69, rose to the top of the Billboard 200 charts, the former featuring the smash hit “Where Dem Dollas At”.
After joining the rap group and releasing her fair share of solo work, the Queen of Memphis went on to work with many other artists, including La Chat who was the second female member of Three 6, Run the Jewels, Eminem, GloRilla, and Latto.

“I feel like it describes me to a tee,” Gangsta Boo told SOHH. “I consider myself as a horrorcore rapper and a hardcore rapper. I love to rap the way I do because it’s like watching a horror movie. I’m the actress you see in the scary movies and that’s what I portray in my music. The title ‘Witch’ just comes from a dark place. We got a sinister sound and there’s a cult following. You’re going to get a lot of dark beats, you’re going to have some crunk sh*t, it’s going to be some gangsta horrorcore Boo and La Chat sh*t.”
Coolio Passes Away At 59
Hip-hop has said goodbye to many rappers over the years, but it is usually premature. Popular 90s rapper Coolio sadly passed away at the age of 59. The news was reported by his longtime manager, Jarez Posey.
According to the New York Times, Posey said the “Gangster’s Paradise” rapper was at a friend’s house when he didn’t come out of the bathroom for a while.
