“Life Hack number B – listen to Trigger Discipline.” The promotional voiceover offers some pretty sage advice. So, armed with that knowledge we duly press that video play button and enter the zany, surreal world that is inhabited by Alyssa Gallagher and Jae Yahkèl Estes, the couple from the paranormal vortex of the Bridgewater Triangle in Massachusetts who just happen to be Trigger Discipline.
And it is here that those recent Bella Union recruits introduce an unsuspecting public to the video for their latest single, ‘Babble Babble Babble’. Presented in a bewildering sequence of TikTok vignettes, the music video embraces many of the video-sharing app’s often overblown, mind-bending, ingenious, informative, toxic, exploitative, and downright weird glimpses we can get from peering through the endless windows of other people’s lives.
It is a heavily-loaded psychotropic visual Babylon, accompanying a suitably heavily-loaded blast of uber-contagious synth-pop. Expect some similarly super-incendiary audiovisual pyrotechnics when Trigger Discipline play a further two shows here in the UK.
