Tried and trippy space rock to the core, electronic guitarist Cameron Stallones’ latest Sun Araw album, Rock Sutra (Sun Ark), offers an escape pod for the overly confined. A sutra being a Sanskrit spiritual instruction manual, this four-track volume begins with the jazzy, stutteringly psychedelic hoedown of “Roomboe,” a sort of mini how-to course in the construction of “room,” i.e., space. The trio mellows out slightly during the swinging “78 Sutra” and “Catalina Breeze,” an extended solo that eventually strikes reggae gold.
