If you haven’t recently revisited PRODUCT, the debut full-length compilation from SOPHIE, now’s a great time. You’ll quickly hear how its influence on anything remotely cool in modern pop from the underground to the charts, how the music holds up stupendously since its release 10 years ago, and why SOPHIE’s passing in 2021 remains such a loss. To celebrate the project’s first decade, SOPHIE’s label Numbers are releasing a tenth anniversary edition of PRODUCT, out in a physical edition on July 11 as a vinyl, CD, and card) It comes with two bonus songs “OOH” and “GET HIGHER,” both available on streaming now.

According to a press release “OOH” is one of SOPHIE’s earliest recordings, with work beginning on the track in 2011. It went through several iterations before SOPHIE completed the song in 2019. Described by SOPHIE as “hi tech dance pop,” it features vocals from Jaide Green. “SOPHIE got in touch after seeing me on The X Factor,” Green writes. “‘OOH’ stood out to me, it was fun, playful, and creative. It was clear the lyrics were very significant to SOPHIE, however it didn’t feel like your usual heartbreak song, it was uptempo and happy. Even still, there was a strength behind the words. I thought it was a perfect fit, pure genius.”

“GET HIGHER” was originally released in the Japanese CD edition of PRODUCT. It was written in 2013 with the help of vocalists Cassie Davis and Sean Mullins. “SOPHIE introduced me to myself,” Mullins says. “She had this unapologetic ferocity for being true to who she was, that was infectious. I remember dancing around in the studio, vibing to the energy of creation in a way that I had never experienced before, devoid of ego. That’s what SOPHIE did for me, and I think what she’s done for a lot of other people with her incredible ability to connect us all to our higher selves through the act of creativity.”
