Nearly five years have lapsed since Lady Gaga released her last studio album, Chromatica, in 2020. Now, the pop veteran is readying her seventh record. Titled Mayhem, it’s due to arrive on March 7.
After months of teasing the album with a countdown on her website and dominating the charts again with her latest single “Die With A Smile” featuring Bruno Mars, Gaga formally unveiled Mayhem on January 27 with billboards in Times Square (which dropped about two hours before the countdown indicated).
In a press statement, she called the album a return “to the pop music my earliest fans loved.” The album is said to contain 19 songs, and she described the process of making the new music as “reassembling a shattered mirror: even if you can’t put the pieces back together perfectly, you can create something beautiful and whole in its own new way.”
Over the past few years Gaga’s main music releases revolved around her projects in Hollywood, Joker 2 and Top Gun: Maverick, for which she received an Oscar nomination. In 2021, she shared Love For Sale, a joint album with Tony Bennett. It’s certainly to exciting to hear that Gaga will be returning with music that sounds like a return-to-form, and already there’s been some intriguing tidbits shared about the project — like her fiancé Michael Polansky’s surprise involvement.

When will Mayhem be released?
Mayhem arrives March 7. Pre-order the album here.
What’s the meaning behind the title Mayhem?
Thankfully it’s not a reference to her Joker 2 character Harley Quinn. Instead, Mayhem is supposed to describe the themes of the music, which will explore “chaos and transformation, celebrating music’s power to unite, provoke, and heal,” per a press release.
What’s the album’s tracklist?
The tracklist is still underwraps but it’s said to contain 19 songs. Two singles, “Disease” and “Die With A Smile,” have already been released.
The album’s third single and music video is set to arrive during the 2025 Grammys, airing during a commercial break.
Who’s featured on Mayhem?
Like the record’s tracklist, any guest features on Mayhem are still unnannounced.
Notably, according to a press release, we know that Gaga executive produced the album with her fiancé Michael Polansky and Grammy-winning producer Andrew Watt, who’s produced hits with Justin Bieber, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus.
Other producers credited on the album include Cirkut and the German electronic artist Gesaffelstein.
