Lil Wayne’s ‘Tha Carter V’ Debuts at No. 1

Lil Wayne lands his fourth No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with Tha Carter V, incomes the third-largest week for an album in 2018. The long-awaited set from the Young Money rapper offered 480,000 equal album items within the week ending Oct. Four, of which 141,000 have been conventional gross sales.

Additionally, Tha Carter V scores the second-biggest streaming week ever for an album, with 433 million on-demand audio streams in its first week. Drake’s Scorpion holds the most important single-week streaming week ever with 745.9 million on-demand streams.

This marks Wayne’s fourth No. 1 album following 2011’s Tha Carter IV (two weeks at No. 1), 2010’s I Am Not a Human Being (one week at No. 1), and 2008’s Tha Carter III (three weeks at No. 1).

Tha Carter V earns the third-largest gross sales week for an album in 2018, following Drake’s Scorpion (732,000) and Travis Scott’s Astroworld (537,000).

Following Weezy is Logic’s YSIV, which enters at No. 2 with 167,000 items (122,000 in conventional gross sales). It is the Maryland rapper’s second album to achieve the highest two in 2018, following March’s Bobby Tarantino II.

Kevin Gates’ Luca Brasi Three opens at No. Four with 78,000 items (18,000 conventional). It marks Gates’ third high 10 effort following 2017’s By Any Means 2 (No. Four) and 2016’s Islah (No. 2).

Elsewhere, Drake’s Scorpion falls Four-5 (56,000), Eminem’s Kamikaze dips Three-6 (50,000), Travis Scott’s Astroworld strikes 5-7 (49,000), and Post Malone’s beerbongs & bentleys slides 6-Eight (42,000). XXXTentacion’s ? reenters the highest 10 with 32,000 items.
