Video Premiere: The Ries Brothers Reflect on “Strange Times”

“Strange Times,” the new single from The Ries Brothers captures the band’s intensity and fire. As the sibling duo explains, “The song itself is a culmination of frustrations and determinations felt during the lockdowns of 2020-2021 when we were unable to tour, had massive shows and festivals cancelled, and found ourselves in a very tough position. We put our heads down and came out strong because at the end of the day you just have to keep hanging on during these ‘Strange Times.’”

The Ries Brothers, who recently embarked on their Rock and Soul Summer Tour, have released a captivating new video to accompany the song. The “Strange Times” video came together while the band was on the road.  As they tell Relix, “We were playing a festival in New Orleans, a city we love to spend time in and get inspired by. We decided the vibe of the city perfectly matched the vibe of this track. The city is unpredictable, majestic, dark, beautiful and uplifting all at the same time and was the perfect backdrop to shoot the video in. After our set at the festival, we scouted areas and came across this old, abandoned factory which felt like the perfect place to start. The grittiness of the area matched the grittiness of the track which was very important.”

The Ries Brothers consists of 27-year-old Charlie, who sings lead while playing drums and keyboard bass, along with his 23-year-old brother Kevin Jordan, who adds guitar, ukulele, melodica and background vocals. They have been gigging out since their teens, first in their native Florida and then across the U.S. They opened a national tour for Chicago in 2015, and have also appeared with G. Love, 311, David Shaw, Galactic and many others.

The new video appears below, followed by the remaining dates on their current tour.
