Tom Holland once broke up a supermarket brawl after being recognised

Marvel actor Tom Holland’s most famous role came in handy when his recognisable face helped break up a fight in a Los Angeles supermarket.

Recalling the incident to Men’s Health, the star of the Spider-Man films talked about carefully choosing when he’s seen in public, so as to avoid too much attention. He did, however, mention that his fame came in handy during a trip to a branch of Whole Foods in Los Angeles, when a fight broke out between two men in Holland’s vicinity.

“They’re like going at it, right behind me,” he says, explaining that he grabbed one of them to try and calm the situation. “I can see that he’s recognised me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down.”

Holland has played the superhero, also known as Peter Parker, since 2016’s Captain America: Civil War, playing a key part in the blockbuster Avengers films, and was last seen in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home opposite fellow Spidey actors Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

Elsewhere in the interview, he remarked that he will “disappear off the face of the Earth” if he becomes a father. “When I have kids, you will not see me in movies anymore” he claimed.

The 28-year-old has plenty of projects on the horizon before then, having recently been cast in Christopher Nolan’s forthcoming film The Odyssey. He is also scheduled to make further appearances as Peter Parker in an as yet untitled fourth Spider-Man film, and reuniting with Robert Downey Jr in 2026’s Avengers: Doomsday.
