After delivering a set of Windy City dates yesterday, Phil Lesh & Friends followed up today by announcing their plans to ring in their namesake’s 83rd birthday at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y., on March 15, 17, 18 and 19.
Lesh broke the news on his official Instagram account, where he spread the word that the upcoming appearances will mark his 100th concert at the acclaimed venue, which reopened its doors in 2012 and has boasted many memorable performances by the musician and his collaborators.
The birthday shows are billed to include a stacked list of industry heavy-hitters and former colleagues of the bandleader. Topping the lineup is Goose’s Rick Mitarontonda, followed by Medeski Martin & Wood mainstay John Medeski. Violinist Katy Jacoby will perform alongside the bass legend, whose accompaniment also features his son and Midnight North guitarist/vocalist Grahame Lesh.
Songstress Nicki Bluhm is also set to play, in addition to the beloved members of the Trey Anastasio Band’s horn section: James Casey, Natalie Cressman and Jennifer Hartswick. Also making the list is premiere percussionist John Molo, who will act as the backbeat during the four-night affair.
Previously, on the artist’s 82nd birthday, he had shared plans for 2022’s Phil-O-Ween run, which occurred last October at The Capitol Theatre. This impending set of birthday shows marks the continuation of the artist’s tradition of celebrating his birthday at the favored Port Chester, N.Y. venue.
