Dave Grohl has extended his thanks to fans via a handwritten note shared yesterday on the Foo Fighters’ official Instagram account. The jest of his message was to acknowledge the support and loyalty of the group’s followers and fans, given the tragic nature of the past 14 months, which involved the passing of the band’s longtime drummer, Taylor Hawkins, in March 2022.
Grohl began his note by writing, “It’s been a while…..” Before diving into the heart of his words, “Now that we’ve returned from our first run of shows, I feel compelled to reach out and thank you all for being there for us. Every night, when I see you singing, it makes me sing harder. When I see you scream, it makes me scream louder. When I see your tears, it brings me to tears. And when I see your joy, it brings me joy. But, I see you… And it feels good to see you churning up these emotions together.”
The musician, who began his career as the principal backbeat for Nirvana, concluded his note by generating deeper meaning for their endowed support system of admiring listeners, writing: “Because we’ve always done this together. Time and time again.”
The heartfelt note came after Foo Fighters’ announced the June 2 release of, But Here We Are (Roswell Records/RCA Records), in addition to the news that the band had sought out and hired a new drummer, Josh Freese. Read more here.
