Brandi Carlile Performs Career-Spanning Solo Acoustic Show at The Capitol Theatre (A Gallery)

On Feb. 16, Brandi Carlile made her return to The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, N.Y. The performance came hot on the heels of Carlile’s multi-Grammy win, and to celebrate her milestone, the artist played solo and acoustic, displaying the raw quality that has blessed the ears of so many.

After sharing her appreciation and elation of the theatre, the coy Carlile jokingly stated she was opening up for herself for the evening and opened the show with what started it all, her debut single, “Follow.” Throughout the evening, she captured the hearts and captivated fans’ ears with contemplative lyrics, austere cadence and unflinching exhibition of the soul by “stomping and screaming” her way through acoustic rock-and-roll.

Highlights included “Broken Horses,” “The Mother,” and a pairing of “I Belong to You” and “You and me on the Rock,” which she performed with her partner Catherine. Carlile also ripped through a few covers, including Tracy Chapman’s “The Promise,” Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend,” and a set-closing cover of Joni Mitchell’s “A Case of You.”
