After 22 years, the creators of Summer Camp Music Festival have announced their intent to launch a new era in 2024 with a fresh festival concept: Solshine: A Music and Arts Reverie. The event returns to Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Ill., and will debut from May 24 through 26, with a pre-party on May 23.
Considered a pioneer of the festival sphere, Summer Camp has expanded over the past two decades, earning its title as a staple of the U.S. festival landscape. Their growth is represented in attendance numbers, from 2,000 people in 2001 to 25,000 in 2023, due to the festival’s cross-genre approach, serving as an appealing angle for genre-seekers.
From its start, Summer Camp has been hosted by moe., eventually becoming a co-hosted affair in 2006 with the addition of Umphrey’s McGee. Solshine: A Music & Arts Reverie will retain Summer Camp’s core ethos of building an inclusive community around music aligned with its sustainable mission.
Solshine will continue to host a diverse, cross-genre lineup of musical acts spanning jam bands, electronic music, bluegrass, funk, rock, and more. In addition to its music programming, the first-time event will offer a variety of workshops, food and craft vendors, and activities.
Previously, Summer Camp has boasted lineups that included Tom Petty, Trey Anastasio Band, The Smashing Pumpkins, Jane’s Addiction, Billy Strings, Griz, Goose, Pretty Lights, Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Subtronics, Primus, Willie Nelson & Family, Liquid Stranger, The Flaming Lips, Papadosio, Phil Lesh And The Terrapin Family Band, Rebelution, Slightly Stoopid, STS9, The Disco Biscuits and others.
All Solshine Reverie tickets include camping access. Various additional add-ons are available, such as VIP upgrades and RV and car camping spots. The VIP upgrade includes exclusive amenities, access to the Thursday pre-party, VIP camping and viewing areas, VIP lounge, air-conditioned bathrooms, and more.
