Duane Betts, son of Allman Brothers Band co-founder Dickey Betts, is gearing up to set out on tour in support of his debut solo album, Wild & Precious Life. To celebrate the start of his forthcoming musical odyssey, Betts shared a new video for “Waiting On A Song,” the album’s initial single, which we have the pleasure of premiering.
The video for “Waiting On A Song” shows Betts rooted at home, fishing, boating and reclining waterside while dishing gritty vocals and sweeping guitar licks. The saffroned-hued clip captures the vibrant and everlasting soul of the Sunshine State and was filmed near his father’s home in Sarasota, Fla. The project as a whole was recorded at Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi’s Swamp Raga Studio in Jacksonville, Fla., furthering the location’s influence on the body of work.
Betts shared his inspiration for the song and video, saying, “‘Waiting on a Song’ is about having faith and letting things unfold naturally. We shot the video down on the water in Sarasota, Florida, near my Dad’s place. Many of the songs on Wild & Precious Life were written while spending time there and being inspired by our surroundings. So we really wanted to present the spirit of the record coming together and the essence of a beautiful day on the Gulf Coast. I think we did that.”
In a recent interview with Relix, Betts opened up about his connection to nature and its influence on his sound. “It goes back to being in awe of all of our surroundings,” he said. “We need to celebrate life and why we’re here because we’re here for just a split second. If me playing guitar and singing songs makes people feel good, then that’s my purpose.”
Betts and his band, Palmetto Motel, will team up with some exceptional bands for their journey. In the Southeast, Cordovas will be joining, adding their unique flavor to the musical mix. In the Northeast, the tour will feature the talented Dustbowl Revival and on the West Coast, Boston bluesrockers GA-20, will add to the mix.
Betts Fall tour promises to be a journey filled with faith, inspiration, and collaboration. With a fresh and raw LP as their guiding light, audiences across the country will have the opportunity to experience the essence of the project live on stage.
