Tupac Shakur Remembered on His 52nd Birthday: Big Boy Reflects on His Impact

On June 16th, the late rapper Tupac Shakur would have celebrated his 52nd birthday. Despite his passing, Tupac continues to be remembered and celebrated by those he impacted during his life and beyond. One person adding to the Tupac buzz is American radio host Big Boy, who took to Twitter to share a heartfelt video expressing the profound impact Tupac had on him.

Big Boy, a legendary Los Angeles radio host, tweeted, “I would’ve just came and just enjoyed Pac being recognized. I mean, that’s legendary.”

He was referring to Tupac’s recent achievement of receiving a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on June 7th, 27 years after his tragic death.  The recognition served as a testament to the lasting influence and significance of his contributions to the hip-hop industry and beyond.

Being from the West Coast and having known Tupac before his radio career, Big Boy expressed his deep connection to the rapper. He recalled being on the road with Tupac, playing his music on the radio, and now witnessing this legendary recognition.

In the video, Big Boy also shared that it’s difficult for him to choose a favorite album from Tupac’s discography. He mentioned that it’s a combination of “All Eyez on Me” and “Me Against the World,” playfully referring to them as “All Eyez on the World.”

Tupac was also honored with a street named after him in Oakland, California, the city where he lived in the early 1990s and where he shot the iconic video for “Brenda’s Got a Baby.” This recognition in Oakland further solidifies Tupac’s place in history as an influential figure in the music industry and a symbol of resilience and storytelling.

The Notorious BIG Honored

In related news, it is worth mentioning that The Notorious B.I.G. also got honored on his 51st Birthday. Tupac Shakur and The Notorious B.I.G, though rivals, were two of the most influential rappers of the 1990s.   Their legacies are intertwined by the “East Coast-West Coast” war that resulted in the demise of both rap icons.
