The 2023 Roots Picnic held at The Mann at Fairmount Park in Philadelphia was a resounding commercial success from June 2nd to 4th. With a focus on the hottest names in R&B, the event showcased a lineup that enthralled audiences. 

From young sensation Ari Lennox to hip-hop duo City Girls, and the homegrown talent of Uzi, the festival was a testament to the vibrant and diverse landscape of contemporary R&B music. SOHH, here are the top highlights from the 2023 Roots Picnic:

Lauryn Hill

The epitome of musical excellence took the stage on the festival’s second night, captivating the audience with soulful renditions of her timeless hits. During the festival, Philadelphia’s own Lil Uzi Vert took the opportunity to thrill fans by announcing their highly anticipated studio album, Pink Tape. This revelation came after Uzi had hinted at the album’s release within two months in March 2023, building anticipation among their devoted followers.

The 2023 Roots Picnic showcased today’s stars and celebrated the musical legends of the past. Hip-Hop band State Property and R&B group, the Isley Brothers, graced the stage, delivering unforgettable performances that transported the audience back in time.
