Broken Records have released the second single from their forthcoming album. Entitled ‘Night Time‘ the single from the Edinburgh-based band is out now.
Speaking about the single, Broken Records frontman Jamie Sutherland explains ‘it’s a song about remembering old loves and the sweetness that comes with how they were everything and how those feelings now feel so dwarfed by the magnitude of marriage, children, responsibility, family. The simple, sweet pain, elation, and self-indulgence of being heartbroken and young when nothing was really of any consequence.‘
The video, directed by Graeme O’Hara, may be seen below.
The band’s fifth album The Dreamless Sleep Of The 1990s will be released on October 2nd on the band’s own J Sharp Records. The band describe the album as ‘a quiet record, a late night record.’ It’s a largely acoustic album with clean guitars and no heavy distortion or overdrives. The band have described the album as being inspired and lyrically shaped by the profound experiences of life and death they have experienced since their last album, 2018’s What We Might Know, with the record exploring the concept of time and how we process past, present, and future, with the fear and nostalgia that that entails. Musical touchstones for the album include Bruce Springsteen, the REM of the 1990s and early work by The National.
